Building my first 5 Tier Cake Part I

I had a client order a 5 tier cake for next week.   This is the biggest cake I have ever had to do and I am so excited to get started.  I have been dying to do a big cake.
The theme is Candy and it's for a birthday for a little girl.  Here are a couple of cakes that are inspiring me for this project.  OMG  These cakes are amazing, who wouldn't want these cakes for their party?

I really want this cake to have a wow factor.  Not that these don't. But I wanted to add as much height as I can.  The bottom tier is going to be a (fake) red and white candy mint. That will add about 4" there.   I went to Michael's and bought 4 16" round styrofoam circles.

I'll hot glue them all together and then cover them with MMF (Marshmallow Fondant).  Then wrap it up in clear cellaphane like the real candy mints are. The middle tier is gonna be super fun.  I saw someone do a cake that is completely bordered with Kit Kat bars and the top is covered with M&Ms. And I have been dying to do a Kit Kat M&M cake.  Now I can.  The top tier will have Oreo Pops each with a letter spelling out the birthday girl;s name. "FAITH".  The top tier will be a cake shaped like a jumbo cupcake. In between a couple of tiers will be some 3" pillars and 5" pillars to give some extra height.  Here's an unfinished sketch of what I have planned so far.

The ice cream cones will be real cones with rice krispy treat filling covered with fondant and sprinkles.  The tier under that will be covered with some candy that I haven't decided upon yet.  Same with the tier under the cupcake.  I'll be making a visit to the candy shoppe in Downtown Campbell.  They have the coolest stuff in there.  I'm sure to get inspired there.
Part II  of this post will be next week when I show you the actual progress of how I make this cake.
